Cali.gg Server Rules

Our rules are not meant to be all encompassing or over reaching.

Please consider what the rules are trying to enforce and remember that the spirit of the rules will always be our guiding practice.

If you are doing something that feels contrary to that ask yourself, "does what I'm doing ruin gameplay or make me an asshole?"

If you find that answer is yes, you will probably be moderated for what you are doing.

  • Do not kill players on sight (KOS) or inflict any type of damage unless you are in a designated pvp zone.
  • You may not shoot into any monument from within or on top of your base.
  • Traps of any kind cannot be placed outside of your TC range.
  • Turrets placed or hidden with the intention of killing unsuspecting players will be removed at admin discretion.
  • Targeted harassment and intentional griefing is not allowed. This includes repeat raiding a base.
  • Any server events must be approved by staff.

PVP Zones

  • Within the no-build zone of all named monuments. (ie Train Yard, Oxums, Sulfure Quarry, etc)
  • Patrol helicopter debris field. (Approx 300m/2 grids diameter)
  • Underground train tunnels.
  • Supply signal/air drop crates once they are visible. (Approx 300m/2 grids diameter)
  • Players looting from a heli crash site crate or air drop may be shot on sight, within reason, until the loot is secured in their base.

Trap Bases

These types of bases are permitted however trapped players may only be killed while inside.
  • A trap base is defined as any type of setup or circumstances that cause a player coming into your base to be either trapped or killed.
  • This may not extend outside of your base and cannot be used to kill or trap unassuming players that did not have any clear intention to try and enter your base.

Pirate Rules

  • All non-marked/out of grid water is considered PVP.
  • If you see a player farming junk piles they are not in a PVP zone as these only spawn in the marked areas.

  • Supply Signals / Airdrops

Cannot be thrown at unsuspecting players to initiate a PVP zone.
Must be looted within a reasonable timeframe (cannot use for camping players)

    Stay Off My Lawn

Stealing or damaging property is allowed however the owner may engage you and/or your teammates and you may not defend.
Property includes Horses, Vehicles, Turrets and Sam Sites. Tugs are the only vehicle not considered property.

General

  • Raiding is not permitted during the first 24 hours after a wipe, including all twig structures.
  • You may not engage in any activity considered raiding without your own fully upgraded base.
  • You may not raid or counter-raid with anyone outside of your green dot team.
  • If multiple groups counter, all parties must fight each other (no taking sides).
  • Players building within 50 meters of an established base may be considered raiders and at the occupants' discretion, rendered hostile and killed on sight.
  • If it is obvious a player violating this rule is brand new, and seemingly unaware, we ask players to attempt a non-violent resolution or reach out to staff.
  • MLRS is to be used for raiding purposes only.
  • Players may only counter raids that are further than 300m (two grids) from a base they own. (Tool Cupboard to Tool Cupboard)
  • Only your green-dot teammates can be called in to participate or help in any raid-related activities.

Tug Boats

  • Players may destroy Tug Boats regardless of weightclass and are treated as a vehicle being destroyed and not as a base being raided.

Twig Building Phase

  • Recently placed twig structures may not be broken. Players in the process of building should be left alone.
  • Twig attached to a base with a TC is still weightclass protected.
  • For example, if a player logs off with twig left on their base this twig is not protected under "recently placed".

Raid Initiation

  • Any items placed (including tool cupboards and raid-bases) during a raid may be removed afterwards at the discretion of an admin or by request of the base owner.
  • Players that appear to be scouting may not be killed on sight.
  • Players starting a raid may not kill any players on sight until they are at the target location with raiding materials in-hand.
  • Only after base occupants can positively identify that players nearby have raiding materials in-hand and that a raid is imminent may they engage.

Active Raids

  • Active raids may be sealed, however all locks (including on tool cupboards) must be removed after the raid is over. Players should be able to reclaim their base after a raid.
  • You may not place seals to intentionally grief a base.
  • Locks used for raid bases must match your weightclass.

Post Raid

  • All locks placed (including on tool cupboards) must be removed as original owners may want to reclaim their base.
  • Raiders may be killed on sight until the raid loot is secured in their base. Raid bases do not count as secured.
  • Raiders may not intentionally de-spawn loot.
  • Raiders are not required to declare when their raid is over.

We are a 4 player team-limited server

  • The max team limit on this server is strictly 4. Your numbers cannot be more than 4 members online/offline.
  • Anyone you create a team and/or authorize on tool cupboards (or turrets) with will be considered your teammate for the duration of the wipe. (also referred to as green-dot team)
  • If you are wanting to make any changes regarding your team or weightclass please submit a team swap ticket within discord. Changes are made soley at admin discretion and are permitted no more than once per wipe.
  • You may not give loot away to any one person.
  • Inside raiding teammates/sharing codes with players outside of your team is not allowed.
  • You may run monuments with allies, however, you cannot exceed the 4 player limit at any time and must remain in your original green dot teams.
  • When playing with non-teammates you may not exceed 4 players within your party and no changes to your green-dot team are allowed (even temporarily).

Solo Players

  • Solo players whose base doors utilize key locks may only raid other key-locked bases.
  • Solo players wishing to raid teams must use code locks and are not permitted to switch back to key locks once changed.

Teams

  • Teams must only utilize code locks and are only permitted to raid other teams.
  • Groups of 2 or more may only use code locked doors.
  • If a team reduces to only one active player during the wipe, that player must still utilize code locks.

General

  • All teams and base lock types cannot be changed after the first 24 hours of wipe without submitting a ticket via discord.
  • Anyone may counter a raid irregardless of weightclass but a raid may only be continued/taken over if you match the base's weightclass.
  • A player's property is exempt from weight class and may be damaged or stolen by anyone. See "stay off my lawn" rule
  • Bases that are visibly decayed lose their weight class exemption.
  • Compounds are considered an extension of your base and must abide by your weight class.
  • Any compounds found in violation may be deleted at any time, without warning, at admin discretion
  • Player property (see KOS Zones for property list) is exempt from weightclass.
  • Tug Boats are not weightclass protected.

Our purge and end of wipe events take place on the final 2 days of a wipe cycle.
The following rule changes happen during this time:
  • Tuesday at 6pm EST
    - Weight class rules and team limits are suspended

  • Wednesday at 6pm EST
    - KOS rules are suspended

Once the rules are suspended they remain this way until the server wipes at 2pm EST on Thursday.

Play Fairly.

Cheating is generally defined as the use of unauthorized or unfair methods to gain an advantage over other players. This can include things like using hack programs or cheats to gain an advantage in combat or resource gathering, using exploits or glitches to gain access to areas or resources that are not intended to be accessible.

Do not use any third-party paid or free programs which provide an unfair advantage in-game.

This includes scripts which can perform any action that is otherwise not possible to be performed ingame.

From the FacePunch ToS:
v. Cheating: create, use, make available and/or distribute cheats, exploits, automation software, robots, bots, hacks, spiders, spyware, scripts, trainers, extraction tools, mining or other software that interact with or affect the Facepunch Services in any way. Mods are OK as long as they follow these rules, the Fan Content Guidelines (www.facepunch.com/legal/ugc/) and the Modding Guidelines (www.facepunch.com/legal/modding).

Do not attempt to circumvent a ban on our servers by using an alternate account.
Such actions will lead to additional bans. If you're banned, serve your time.

Alternate accounts with Rust EAC Game Bans that are less than 365 days old will result in the new account(s) being banned from our servers.

After 365 days, if you have only one Rust Gameban and no subsequent issues, you may be eligible to play.
However, the final decision regarding all bans remains at the discretion of the administrative team.

You are solely responsible for the security of your account and any bans associated with it. Your account is intended for your personal use only; sharing access or using someone else's account, even with permission, is not allowed.

Players with bans from any game other than Rust, issued within the last 90 days, are not permitted to join our servers.

Automatic kicks will be applied to accounts that violate this rule, and appeals will be summarily rejected.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for any bans applied to it.
Keep in mind that your account is for your personal use only; do not share it or access someone else's account, even with their permission.

Avoid exploiting unintended game mechanics to gain an unfair advantage.

This encompasses, but is not limited to, entering areas not meant to be accessed, manipulating game objects to see or shoot through unintended barriers, and making or using graphical adjustments that are not part of the game's native settings.

Players shall not utilize any robots, bots, scripts, extraction tools, mining or other software that interact with or affect the FacePunch Services in any way.

Players caught violating this will be subject to immediate bans.

Actions that significantly degrade server performance are subject to immediate removal of the responsible entities or even player bans.

Examples of such actions include, but are not limited to:
  • Spam crafting
  • Mass despawning
  • Entity spamming
  • Firework spamming
Please note that any removed items will not be reimbursed under any circumstances.

Due to our servers being focused on allowing players to learn the game, we do not permit restricting access to monuments.
While you probably won't be banned for it, do not wall off or restrict access to monuments (this includes turrets).
The walls/turrets will be removed without compensation or returning of the resources.

Caves, standalone tunnel entrances, and ziplines are an exception to this.

General

Cali.gg adheres to all FacePunch and Steam Terms of Service, particularly concerning in-game communication via voice, text, and notes.
We enforce a zero-tolerance policy, and violations may result in muting or bans.

Chat Rules

Racism and homophobia are strictly prohibited. We have implemented systems to detect and penalize the use of such terms.
Any attempts to violate or circumvent these measures will incur progressive punishments, up to and including bans from our servers.

Repeated spamming of the chat can lead to chat restrictions.

Doxing

Releasing any personal, real-world information will lead to immediate and permanent banning.
Any information not native to the game world is considered doxed if revealed in-game.
Do not share personal information—yours or others'.

Even "fake" details shared as a joke will be treated as real.

DDoS

Threats related to denial-of-service attacks against servers or players are treated as genuine and actionable offenses.
DDoS attacks are crimes, and we will collaborate with U.S. law enforcement and hosting providers for prosecution if necessary.

Real Life Threats

To accurately assess the seriousness of a threat, it's essential to consider the context in which it was made.
For instance, vulgar language directed at another player is generally not considered a genuine threat.
However, if a player mentions intentions to locate someone outside of the game or engage in harmful real-world actions like "swatting," please report such behavior immediately.

Real World Payments/Offers

Selling in-game services or resources for real-world currency is prohibited. This includes advertising such services in chat.

Server & Admin Defamation

Staff are here to help. If you choose to intentionally go out of your way to be abusive to them, do not be surprised when you are moderated for it.
Impersonation of staff in an attempt to mislead players or shed a negative light on Cali.gg may result in moderation.
Publicly disparaging Cali.gg or its staff is not tolerated and may result in action taken against individuals who do so. If you have a complaint about the server itself, please submit a support ticket.

FacePunch Code of Conduct
FacePunch ToS

Associating with a player who cheats or evades bans is generally understood as having a connection with someone who employs unfair tactics or has been banned from Cali.gg servers. This includes, but is not limited to, befriending, teaming up with, or frequently communicating with such individuals.

Being linked to a cheater or ban evader could be interpreted as "cheating by association," suggesting that the individual may be aware of or involved in unfair activities. Players found to have such associations may face disciplinary actions ranging from warnings to bans, depending on the severity and their level of involvement.

Moderation decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.

While we do not expect players to vet every teammate's history, we also do not tolerate any form of cheating or ban evasion. If concrete and undeniable evidence shows that players are aiding others in these activities, those involved will also be subject to banning.
Choose your teammates wisely!

Please be aware that the rules provided are not exhaustive; they serve as a general guide.

We reserve the right to exercise moderation at our discretion across our servers, stores, and Discord guilds, even in situations that may not be explicitly addressed by our listed rules.

While we aim for fairness and consistency in our moderation practices, our primary objective is to foster a positive and enjoyable gaming environment on Cali.gg Servers, in line with FacePunch and Steam Terms of Service.

We encourage you to check this space regularly, as these rules may be updated.
Failure to comply with our policies may result in suspension or banning from our platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

All cheating reports should be submitted using the the in-game F7 system.
You can also contact staff directly in our Discord via our ticket system.

Please do not report server rule violations via F7, this should be done via our ticket system.

Aside from community events, administrators on Cali.gg servers do not participate in normal gameplay on our servers.

Every Rust server is set to save at a certain interval, generally every 10 minutes.
If a server crashes unexpectedly it will revert to the last save point.

Unfortunately, though we understand this is frustrating, we are not always able to spawn in or replace any items lost.
This would be unfair to other players who also potentially lost items.

For our noob friendly server we do offer the ability to help with cases like this.
Please make a "boop" ticket in our Discord.

This is a known consequence of either of these actions taking place.
We are unfortunately not able to reimburse any items lost from a crafting queue to ensure fairness to all players.

While we have all felt the pain of an issue causing items to be lost we cannot for any reason intentionally rollback our servers.

Sleeping and/or disconnecting in Outpost will cause you to be killed by the NPCs.
This has been a native Rust feature for years, and staff cannot assist with any lost items.

All abuse reports are taken seriously when we receive them. However, not everything that you may find offensive is something that we can take moderation action against.

We would suggest you mute players locally in game be either clicking on their name in chat or pulling them up in the contacts tab and muting them from there.

This will not moderate them for everyone, but it removes them from your game experience and gives us time to review things further.

We are group limited to 4.

Please see Teaming in the rules above for more.
